Job Description
 
The Research Assistant (RA) position provides support to the Behavioral Health Outcomes and Artificial Intelligence (BevHO AI) research laboratory at the College of Global Population Health (COGPH). The RA will perform research, technical and management duties for the laboratory. The individual will work closely with graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty in a dynamic laboratory environment. The ability to function independently and as part of a team is critical. Excellent organizational and communications skills (both verbal and written) are essential, as is attention to detail. 
 
At the BevHO AI lab, we apply AI and data science techniques to solving behavioral health outcomes problems, including depression, Mild Cognitive Impairments, Alzheimer’s disease, and related dementia. In addition, we apply several statistical analysis techniques to answer important research questions. More importantly, we work together to learn and discover underlying patterns and insights from data.
 
Duties and Responsibilities 
 
  • Assists in scholarly Research and Development 
  • Researches and collects data using appropriate data collection and cleaning techniques
  • Primary tasks include literature synthesis, data aggregation and linkages from multiple sources, data cleaning, data visualization, and analysis. 
  • Modifies and plans research methodology and techniques in optimizing research design
  • Synthesizes analyzes, and interprets data with minimal help
  • Reports on the status of research activities in oral and written formats
  • Assembles and compiles research data for presentation and/or reports
  • Writes first drafts for inclusion in manuscripts to be submitted for publication 
  • Train other students and support staff on research at Bevho AI Lab. 
  • Participate in weekly and bimonthly meetings to discuss project progress 
  • Manages ordering and maintenance of inventory and supplies 
  • Tracks and monitors monthly lab associated expenses expenses 
  • Works with faculty on financial planning 
  • Other lab duties and administration tasks, as directed by the Lab director
  • Experience with organization, inventory, and record-keeping is preferred
