The UHSP Health Care Summer Immersion Program is a seven-day, six-night non-credit academic enrichment program for rising high school juniors and seniors. Summer Immersion Leaders serve to support and encourage pre-college high school students' academic and personal success in partnership with the Director of Academic Enrichment and the Office of Admissions. 
Summer Immersion Leaders (SI) are UHSP students who will serve as residential peer counselors, guides, and mentors for one-week college experiences. Summer Immersion Leaders will live in the University residence hall during the program week, plan and facilitate engaging evening social activities, and model the characteristics of a successful UHSP student.

Responsibilities
·       Serve as an energetic and enthusiastic leader/mentor to rising junior and senior high school students.
·       Attend and participate in all spring training sessions and group meetings.
·       Arrive to campus one day prior to the start of the Summer Immersion Program.
·       Program Session 1: June 6-June 12, 2021 and Program Session 2: July 25-July 31,2021
·       Participate in social media interactions with program participants prior to the program start date.
·       Work both independently and as part of a team with fellow Summer Immersion Leaders.
·       Serve as a positive social and academic role-model.
·       Maintain confidentiality with any shared information.
·       Coordinate and facilitate social and educational programs as desired or needed.
·       Participate in formal evaluations and assessments of the program.
·       Develop relationships and provide support to program participants. (Cultivate an atmosphere of belonging)

Summer Immersion Program Participants will:
·       Explore the diverse opportunities in health professions including pharmacy and research.
·       Engage in hands-on higher learning and college-level lab experiences
·       Experience unique learning opportunities
·       Navigate the transition from high school to college. 

Qualifications to Become a Summer Immersion Peer Leader
·       Be in good academic and student conduct standing
·       Be willing to learn and share information about the UHSP community, academic, and student life
·       Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills
·       Have a genuine desire to help high school student transition to college
·       Demonstrate maturity and leadership
·       Be self-motivated with a positive attitude and friendly disposition

Ø $500.00 per program session
