The primary role of an Orientation Leader is to provide guidance and facilitate Orientation activities. The position of Orientation Leader requires a great deal of dedication and hard work. They are expected to learn the most important aspects of the College and of orientation to best facilitate positive interactions between faculty, staff, and students transitioning to the Professional Program. As representatives of the St. Louis College of Pharmacy, POLs are expected to be able to fulfill varying and diverse roles throughout training and orientation sessions. While serving as a friend and mentor to students, POLs are also responsible for communicating and upholding STLCOP policies. The minimum expectations and responsibilities for Professional Orientation Leaders include, but are not limited to: attending and actively participating in the POL training program, working as a team with other POLs and STLCOP faculty and staff, participating and assisting with the organization, planning, and implementation of orientation activities for the fall orientation, and participating in the fall POL training program. 
 

Responsibilities 

  • Facilitate professional students through the August Orientation program
  • Communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students 
  • Follow and enforce College and Residential community policies  
  • Participate in POL training (including summer reading assignments) and be present for and engaged in all aspects of the Orientation program 
  • Provide support and guidance to students and, when appropriate, referral to campus resources 
  • Assist with White Coat Ceremony
  • Assist with Co-Curriculum activities throughout the academic year
  • Assist with other duties as assigned 
  • Fall Orientation Team Training will be in August the week prior to orientation. POLs will receive Cultural Competency training with Dr. Butler during this time to help serve as facilitators for Cultural Competency activities during orientation. It is crucial that you are able to attend these training days, please notify the Experiential Office that you are an Orientation Leader and need off the last rotation (if applicable).
