Job Description
An Events Assistant is a student employee for the Office of Student Affairs and Marketing and Communications who works in support of the Student Affairs and Marketing and Communications professional staff. An EA is responsible for assisting with all aspects of event management, including planning, marketing, event implementation (set-up, running event, take-down), and other duties as assigned. This position will include aspects of social media management and photography (documenting the event). Position may be renewed for an additional year(s) based on performance evaluation.

Position Tasks

You will be responsible for creating and managing student events and activities. You will also assist with larger events and activities. You must complete these tasks accurately, thoroughly, and promptly.

·        Collaborate with Student Development and Engagement and Marketing and Communications to develop, implement, and document student events and activities
·        Develop and implement a virtual engagement plan to support students and develop community during physical distancing
·        Take an active role in managing social media accounts, including sharing appropriate marketing, advertisements, and pictures
·        Communicate effectively with campus offices and departments
·        Attend Campus Events meetings whenever possible (Fridays, 10:30am-12pm)
·        Maintain awareness of possible campus events and programs to be documented
·        Practice punctual attendance to assigned events
·        Provide color corrected digital files to client within 3 working days of shoot. Photos must be sharp, not too underexposed or overexposed, so that they may be utilized for UHSP social materials
·        Possess an attentiveness on email as this is the primary form of communication prior to the event. Respond in a timely manner to supervisor requests/questions
·        Have a cooperative attitude and willingness to take direction and feedback from client
·        Arrive on time for work and maintain a reliable attendance record
·        Write captions for selected photos.
·        Assist with the assessment of student engagement efforts
·        Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications:
·        Must have experience with digital photography
·        Bring personal equipment to be used to shoot events

Added Value:
·        Possess intermediate to advanced knowledge of Photoshop or Light Room
·        Good communication and interpersonal skills
·        Regular availability on nights and weekends
·        Work creatively under the pressure of deadlines

Student Events Assistant must establish and maintain a positive relationship with assigned supervisor, all colleagues and associated partners.
